Proposed Kent County Recreation Center Informational Meeting:

5/19/2014
Dover, DE - In 2009, Kent County acquired a 53 Acre +/- portion of the Kesselring Farm property located along easterly side of New Burton Road, approximately 1,400 Feet +/- south of Webbs Lane for future Parks and Recreational uses. The development of a County-owned Recreation Center Building has been a long-standing goal of Kent County to accommodate the ever increasing public demand for indoor recreational space.

In late 2012, in pursuit of this goal, Kent County Levy Court entered into a partnership with the Central Delaware Boys & Girls Club to jointly plan and develop a recreational facility on the Kesselring Farm Property that would meet the growing needs of both organizations. Since that time, the County and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware, Incorporated have been working through the details of a shared use facility, and have developed a Plan for this purpose. We anticipate that our Plan will be progressing through the regulatory Plan Review and Permitting process over the summer months and into the fall of this year.

Kent County Levy Court is seeking to share these Plans with you, our future neighbors. We have arranged to host a Community Meeting at the W. Reily Brown Elementary School at 360 Webbs Lane, Dover, Delaware on Thursday, May 29, 2014 beginning at 7PM. Representatives from Kent County and The Boys & Girls Clubs will be on hand along with our Project Architects and Construction Managers to provide a complete overview of our Plans, to address any concerns, and to answer any questions you may have. We hope that you will join us for this informative Meeting.

Should you have any questions in advance of the Community Meeting, or in the event that you cannot attend but would like to arrange another time to meet, please feel free to contact Michael J. Petit de Mange, AICP, Kent County Administrator, at 302/744-2305 and alternative arrangements can be made.
