Kent County media advisory on the status of County parks
(DOVER) – Kent County Levy Court is issuing an advisory on the condition of all county parks as a result of the recent snow storms. Park patrons are urged to follow the guidelines set forth if choosing to visit a park. Residents may contact the Department of Community Services at 744-2495 should they have any questions.
Brecknock County Park, Camden
All parking lots have been cleared for parking. Restrooms, pavilions, and entrance to Picadilly Castle are cleared of snow and open. The nature trail has been cleared of snow outside the tree line and a loop has been created just outside the tree line. There is still significant snow inside Picadilly Castle and park patrons are urged to wait until significant melting has occurred to use that facility. All other facilities (ball fields, volleyball pits, horseshoe pits, multipurpose fields) are covered in snow and not open for public use.
Big Oak County Park, Smyrna
All parking lots have been cleared for parking. Restrooms, pavilion are cleared of snow and open. The trail, except for the north side (near ball fields) is cleared and open. There is still snow on the playground and park patrons are urged to wait until significant melting has occurred to use that facility. All other facilities are covered in snow and not open for public use.
Browns Branch County Park, Milford-Harrington
All parking lots have been cleared for parking. Restrooms are open with access through the Maintenance shop roadway. Trails are expected to be open by the end of the day for weekend use. There is heavy snow on the playground and park patrons are urged to wait until significant melting has occurred to use that facility. Picnic areas are also snowed in and not usable at this time. All other facilities are covered in snow and not open for public use.
Tidbury Creek County Park, Dover
Parking area is closed for the winter time. The drive way up to the front gate has been cleared. One path from the front gate to the park has been cleared for park personnel. No other work has been done to open trails at this time.
Lebanon Landing on the St. Jones
Entrance and parking lot has been cleared and is open. No other amenities have been cleared by staff (fishing pier and boat launch).
