The Department of Planning Services consists of the following Divisions/Sections:
The Planning Division is responsible for the review of land use applications such as subdivision, rezoning, commercial site development, variances, and conditional uses.
The Inspections & Enforcement Division
is responsible for the issuance of Building Permits and Enforcement of Building and Zoning Code violations.
The Community Development Section is responsible for assisting in housing renovations throughout Kent County.
The Historic Preservation Section provides technical assistance to the County's citizens by providing information about funding, the architectural history of their homes, and TAX CREDITS for those who qualify.

The Manufactured Housing Section is responsible for assisting in the placement of Manufactured Homes and their removal, and clean up of derelict manufactured homes throughout Kent County.
The GIS/Mapping/911 Addressing Section is responsible for information supplied on a geographic basis, such as mapping of new parcels and subdivisions throughout Kent County. In conjunction with these mapped parcels is the 911 Addressing of each parcel for Emergency Dispatching.
