The Kent County Board of Adjustment serves as an administrative, quasi-judicial panel to hear appeals of any order, requirement or determination made in the administration of the Kent County Zoning Code. The Board may grant special exception variances from the Code consistent with requirements of state law. The Board consists of seven (7) members, one from each of Kent County's Levy Court Districts. Members are appointed for terms to continue until a successor is named, and must reside within the Levy Court district from which they are appointed for the duration of their term. Support staff is provided by the Kent County Division of Planning.
Regular business meetings are held on a monthly basis in the Levy Court Chambers, Room 203 of the Kent County Administrative Complex, 555 Bay Road, Dover, Delaware. All members of the Board are voting members. The presence of a quorum (four or more members) is necessary for the Board to take official action on any matter before it for consideration.
The Board of Adjustment normally meets on the third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
