The Assessment Office's primary responsibility is to appraise and assess all taxable parcels of real estate in Kent County. When aggregated, these assessments provide the basis for generation of a significant part of the revenues required for the functioning of the County's government and school districts. The fundamental principle which governs the appraisal of real estate for property tax purposes in Kent County is equity, or fairness, for all property owners. The achievement of this goal requires thorough training and a high level of professionalism of all Assessment staff members.
