In 2009, Kent County Public Library celebrates its 10th year of service to the constituents of Kent County. "The Friendly Library on the Highway" opened in August 1999 at 2319 South DuPont Highway in the northbound lane of Route 13 just north of the Camden light.

Fourteen free Internet-accessible computers offer Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher software. A drive-through window and drive-up book drop provide convenient pick-up and drop-off of materials from our growing collection of fiction and non-fiction books, movies, and audiobooks. The browsing collection of magazines, journals, and newspapers is supplemented with online access to more than 2,500 full-text periodicals.

Free activities and programs throughout the year address the needs and interests of all ages. Weekly story times, a writers' support group, computer training, resume classes, book discussions, film series, author visits, and reading programs are just a sample of the variety presented.

Kent County Public Library is part of the Kent County Department of Community Services. The Kent County Public Library operates a bookmobile that visits Hartly, Cheswold, Felton, Frederica, the Kent County Complex, and a number of other locations. The Library Division is responsible for the courier service that delivers books and other resources between and among libraries in the County. Materials from all Kent and Sussex libraries are accessible via the online catalog available in all libraries or via the Internet at www.lib.de.us or by clicking on “Online Catalog” from the library home page.
